I've been reading lots of helpful posts about changing gears. From what I have read, I have a 2.73 posi rear, 2 series carrier, 7.5", 28 spline. My car is not at my house so I can't verify, but it's the stock rear, so is that correct?
I was thinking of 3.23, but after reading now I want 3.42, since everyone who has switched loves them. From what I've read there are 2 ways to go from 2.73 posi to 3.42 posi:
1. Get a posi carrier for $99 from SLP and find a set of used 3.42 gears from a 90-92 V6 and rebuild the rear.
2. Fet a set of Richmond gears for the 2 series carrier.
To me, #2 sounds cheaper and easier, depending on how much the gears cost. I know the speedo gear needs to be changed. Am I missing something? Just trying to do this the cheapest way possible.
Thanks.

Thanks. Summit sells the 3.42 2 carrier set for $193. I don't think I've seen them cheaper anywhere else. Maybe I could luck out and get a used set. I figure around $200 for the install, is that close?
