I just got an 87 GTA from a kid, he gave it to me to part out, however I was shocked to see it had a 10 bolt drum rear in it... this totally baffled me cuz I would have thought for sure that it would have an aussie 9 bolt in it... anyone else know of a combo like this before?

Yeah you could get the 10 bolt in the GTA in 1987. Was your ratio a 3.08 or the 3.45????

yeah but is u'r 10 bolt posi a disc or drum? I dont' know of too many drum posi's... but if it didn't come with that rear, then WHY would someone change a disc posi rear to a drum open rear?? makes no sense to me.

My brothers IROC had a 3.08/Posi/drum/10 bolt in it. His car was the TPI 305/HD 5 speed combo too. I think the only option his didn't have was the rear disc's. I think the key is the engine, the 305's seemed to get the 10 bolt and all the 350's got the 9 bolt. FYI, all 9-bolts are posi (as far as I can remember).
