clutch set-up
clutch set-up
I am in the process of putting a t-5 out of an 88 iroc into my 82 Z. I have the tranny, clutch, bellhousing, fork, drive shaft, torque arm, and shifter. Now all I need is the clutch pedal assembly. My question is, I know the t-5's came with hydraulic clutches, but can I use a mechanical clutch set up? I can get linkages/pedals out of an 82 4 speed car for free, so thats why I am asking.

I don't belive that the Z bar linkage will work with a Hydraulic T-5 setup but the actual pedals might be similar, you still need to get the master cylinder and slave cylinder setup and install it on the firewall. The actual pedals might be the same, but instead of mechanical rods hooking to the pedals, the slave prolly just connects tro the same place, but I am not too sure, just PM me if you are still confused.

The clutch pedals are different, the bellhousings are different, and the clutch forks are different between the hydraulic and mechanical setups.
And to further confuse the issue, the only year of mechanical bellhousing that will work with a T5 is 1983. Only 1983, meaning they are hard to find.
The hydraulic assembly can be installed into your 82 with minimal modification; basically just drilling a couple of well-placed holes in the firewall.
