Trans. crapping out?
I've noticed that my car has been feeling slower and not accelaerating as fast as my engine. I checked my trans. fluid and noticed that it was over filled and bubbly, not milky, but I had fluid removed the last time I changed the oil. Could it be that my trans is crapping out? Any ideas?

When you had the fluid removed, did they pull the pan? I serviced mine a few weeks ago I found one of GM's old style filters bouncing on the bottom of the pan! It seems GM had a problem with the old filters droping down from the valve body because the seal on the male end that presses up into the valve body would shrink. They have been re-disigned and are a little smaller now and fit tighter. My trans was getting a little slow and sloppy so when I changed the fluid and filter, I added a bottle of LUCAS trans oil stablizer and conditioner. Everything works good now!
Might be worth a try before you shell out a bunch of money for a new trans!

I'm not sure exactly how they pulled the fluid but they didn't drop the pan. Tranny fluid was sort of a light pink and didn't smell burnt. I planned on changing the fluid and filter earlier because I was going to get a B&M shift kit but decided against it. I will be changing the filter & fluid sometime this week. I'm just curious as to why the fluid level is going up and bubbly, I haven't seen bubbly fluid before.

I'm guessing that when the filter drops down and the male end that plugs into the valve body looses part of it's seal, it's just high enough above the fluid line that it draws some air into the pump. It's sort of like trying to drink a soda from a straw with a hole in it! End result; pink fluid with a foamy appearance.
Some people think that droping the tranny pan is such a hassle that they wouldn't think of droping it without putting a shift kit in it. Actually, it doesn't take much longer that it takes to get the car jacked up to drop the pan.
Products like slick 50 or Lucas make a good fluid stablizer and seal conditioner that will help stop foaming and bring back lost pressure. I would drop the pan ASAP and check which filter you have (old style or new) either way I would still use an additive to combat foaming.
