10 bolt problems
I put an `02 10 bolt with 12k in my 90 firebird.
I installed it with the disc brakes. My car was originally drum.
I've been trying to fix my gear whine since installing it.
Tonight I figured I would jack the car up and run it in gear in the air at the same speeds I hear the whining while driving to either eliminate the tires and or figure out which bearing is shot.
What I found was both wheels turned together when the car was in gear and driving while the wheels where off the ground. Is this normal behavior for a torsen diff?
I also found that the passenger side was louder than the drivers side, but they both made a bit more noise than I thought they would. It almost seems as if the brakes are dragging.
Is there an adjustment I need to make to loosen up the rear brakes, and could this be my problem with hearing what I think is a bad wheel bearing/gear whine?
Right now I think its either both brakes dragging or I need both wheel bearings. Or the center diff/gears are just trashed.
Next step is to remove the tires and brakes and see what she does.
Any thoughts?
