replacing trans mount
replacing trans mount
Hey guys i did a search on here for tips on replacing trans mounts. Looked very easy so I did it. I came across post said if you push up on trans and it moves thats way tell if its bad. Well it did plus a shop also said my trans mount was looking bad. Anyways problem is now i replaced it it still pushes up if i push the oil pan up u can see it move. The mount i got also backwards from one that was in car the the threaded part came out flat metal and trans sat on cushion side now the cushion side is down and the trans sitting on flat metal. Did they sell me wrong type?? The trans was replaced about year ago with used 1 same 700r that came with the 85 camaro berlinetta thanks for any help not sure if its right.

The mount should only bolt on 1 way. It should look like the one on this site....

The Tabs should face down towards the crossmember.
If you are pushing up on the oil pan and you are seeing stuff move still it could also be the engine mounts. The factory rubber ones break down with oil.

Sounds good
From what you describe, your car has the correct mount. The two bolts go up into the transmissions tail area and the one threaded stud protrudes through the crossmember and is fastened with a nut and washer. It almost looks the same in design as the one in the jegs/energy suspension ad, except that one uses a bolt through the crossmember instead of a stud. But it still uses the factory bolts into the trans.
(I just replaced the factory one yesterday with the Energy Suspension type. To see why visit the thread "Bad mount")

ok thanks..
I just thought maybe they sold me wrong one as trans was sitting on rubber end and threaded bolt came out flat metal end now its viseversa. The trans is sitting on the flat metal end and the bolt comes out the rubber side which sits on the cross bar. just wanted to check with you guys.
