Posi or not?
hey guys, about 6 months ago i bought a posi unit from some guy on ebay. I think it was some factory GM unit but not too sure. When i put it in and when the car was on jacks i spun the tires to see if both would spin the same way. They didnt, one forward the other opposite. I was told if its posi they both go forward. But then when i do a brakestand both tires lite up! Then again from a dead stop when i punch it, 50% of the time only one tire spins, especially around turns.
No what does this mean? I have to have posi because i can spin both doing a burnout but then why does this other stuff happen? I want both tires to spin ALL THE TIME! I mean from burnouts, WOT off the line, around turns, etc.. Is there something i need to get or am i better off finding another posi unit?

you don't know a posi when you see one? that's usually the best and only way to tell for sure. the tire spinning direction, 2 tire mark method doesn't tell you much. most likely i'd guess you have a posi that doesn't work all the time.

Spool it
If you want both tires spinning all the time (100%) buy a spool. A spool locks both axles together the ring gear is bolted to it. They are in summit or jegs catalog, there are no clutches springs etc. But beware you can break stuff ( axles, u-joints, etc) with it and driveablity needs getting used to also.
