ive got a 97 LT1 with a 93 T-56 and im wondering what gears u guys would recomend for this setup. My goal is to utilize the 6 speed yet still be able to cruise the highway at 80 and still have decent fuel milege, thanks in advance - TOT

4.11's or 373's. with the sixth gear you get really good gas mialage with almost any gear really.
2.73s - you have to slip the clutch to get the car moving.. not going to last long.. cant shift into 6th until about 80mph.
3.42 - bear min to have a T56 with... to pass on the interstate, you need to go into 5th or lower. feels like a normal trans.
3.73 - great for daily driver, quick out of the hole, but double overdrive still saves extra gas.. you can pass slowly in 6th.
4.11 - insane fun. 3rd is like 2nd, 2nd is like first, and first is amazinly quick. putting it in 6th is like a 5spd in 5th.. so its like you dont have double overdrive at all, so you dont get better miliage, but no worse then you have stock.
having put all 4 of thoes in my car in the past 2 months, i think thats a good comparison.
if i could just stop fragging rears, id be happy

I personally would go w/ AT LEAST 3.73s. Probably 4.11s for me. But I have a high tolerance for daily drivers...

I would have gone 3.73 if I didn't already have 3.42. I think 4.11 is a little too steep, but i've seen people usiong 4.56, bet thats a rush.
only use a 4.11 if you can rev past 6000 or if you have larger rear tires.
otherwise you have to shift RIGHT before the finish line.....
once the blower is on, im sure my motor will blow the tires off even with the 3.42 thats in there now, so im not planning on switching it anytime soon.
but 4.11s are a rush and fun.... clutchout, then right back in for the 1->2....
