just recieved corvette servo
hey, i just recieved a corvette servo, i havn't put it in yet though...i was wondering..when i installed my b&m shift improver kit, i think i remember they gave me a couple of spacers used to block off the accumulator pistons, which i used. i remember reading somewhere that it is not a good idea to run the vette servo with blocked off accumulator pistons. "they don't go well together" if this is true, should i order a new set of accumulator pistons and springs? i found the 1-2 accumulator piston and spring for 8.99, and the 3-4 accum. piston and spring for the same price on ebay made by monster transmissions. would this be neccessary? thanks

In an automatic trans, the manufactuer worrys about two things, Shift quality and shift timing. Blocking off the accumlators just makes the the clutches come on faster and harder by not letting the accumlator fill up.The vette servo also quickens up shifts by appling the band faster with a different sized servo piston.
I dont see any reason they cant be used in conjunction....One is for clutches and one is for the band. Your trans will just shift fairly hard.
Someone on here has to have both of these things done to their car or have experience

I had a 1978 Malibu (work car) with a 350/350, Q-Jet, headers, duals, etc. The tranny shifted hard but it was a lot of fun. After 4-5 years of daily driving (tire chirping gear shifts), the frame cracked and broke on the passenger side where the lower control arm connects to the frame.
In short it can cause damage but it is more likely to be chassis damage.
PS. That was the best and fastest work car I have ever owned, it was a sad day when it went into the junk pile.

I blocked off both my 1-2 and 3-4 accumulators as well as having a corvette servo and it shifts great! Quicker apply = less friction = longer lasting clutches especially under high H.P. I don't drive my car everyday, but when I do I drive the crap out of it and the transmission has held up for 2+ years which is great!
