Problem w/Moser 12 bolt housing ends!!!
I ordered a Moser 12 bolt from Spohn and they've sent me a rear end w/what appears to be the wrong housing ends. On the invoice it says BIG FORD HOUSING ENDS 3/8 HOLES. My caliper bracket is comepletely different from the housing ends. The bolts holes don't match up. Both Spohn and Moser tell me I'm soppoused to addapt my braket to this housing end and I don't see how. Don't I have a 93-97 type set-up back there as far as the brakes and the housing end?. I'm I going crazy or what?
Please someone help!

Yeah, but can someone confirm that they are wrong and I'm right. Moser has a housing end that would seem to be a match.
It's a housing end for a 93-97 set-up. Do I have a 93-97 rear brake set-up?

I would call Moser and compare part numbers between your rear and one that fits 3rd/4th gen Camaro brakes. I believe the mounting points on 3rd and 4th gen brakes are the same as long as the third gen is using 90+ PBR rear brakes.

I was told by Moser you have use 93-97 rear disc setup with their rears. 82-92 setups won't fit. i had to change the backing plates to make my drum brakes fit. The bolt pattern is too small for their axle/bearing setup.

I'm pretty sure you still have to modify the caliper plates to match the housing ends. If you have the big ford housing ends you must counterbore the stock backing plates, and then redrill the plate to match the 4 holes on the housing ends.
That's the way it was when I swapped in my Moser 9" package without brakes. I adapted my stock 9 bolt PBR brackets to the housing ends.
Any machine shop should be able to counterbore your plates easily, and you can redrill the holes yourself to match the housing ends. I don't remember how much you need to counterbore the plate, but I'm sure it's about 1/8" deep.

I spoke to steve spoon and some guy from moser and they are denying that the exsistance of a 93-97 brake set-up on my 90 firebird. It's a conspiracy!!! My problem is that I can't send it back. My mechanic has it on a lift already. I can't tie up his lift for a week so he's gonna mod it. This is propably gonna cost me more duckets when it didn't have to. I'm very pissed off.

I just helped install a strange 12 bolt in a 94 t/a, and everything bolted right up, don't know what moser does different.

That depends on the brake setup you have... On my moser 9" ford they DID NOT/Could not provide an option to use the factory REAR DISK brakes....I rewiewed the situation with the cahssis shop and I opted to buy a Wilwood big brake setup for the rear and gave that info to moser..everything bolted right up.. The only Moser factory brake options at the time were for drum brakes and I did not want to downgrade...

Moser ships the rear with the ford housing ends rotated 90 degrees, so the bolt holes are top and bottom not side to side like on a stock ford. I found this out too when I recieved mine, I thought I recieved the wrong rear too. I just had a machine shop drill the 4 new holes and counterbore the backing plate. It cost me $110 to do and works great. The only diff is I used the baer rear disc setup, but it should be the same with your stock brakes.

I figured that both Moser and Spoon would know this. Especially Spoon, since he is the sponsor here.

It would have been just as easy for the nincompoops to weld on these as Ford ones. Here's a link to the pic.

Well, im interested in them not for the rear but for a drum to rear disk brake conversion, will these work for a ten bolt? Thanks.

I'm not quilified to give any rear end advice. I know that my 12 bolt's housing ends looked different from the stock 10 bolt.
I think these are the stock c-clip style, like on my rear:

Assuming you want to switch from drums to PBR calipers, you should first take look at what your housing ends look like and go from there. Sorry I can't be more help.

Hmm its really hard to tell, i know what my housing looks like but that picture isn't really good item to compare and scale to. I think from looking at it the center hole is bigger.

According to Moser's site that's the stock GM style. If your rear is the same as mine, which I guess it should be, than to convert you'll just need the caliper mounting brackets and obviously the rotor/caliper and such. There's a tech article about the swap, I'm sure.
How were you planing to use those 12 bolt housing ends for a brake swap? I'm just wondering.

Rather than machining the drum ends, just use these
