Gov. weights <--> trans letting loose at WOT
I had a problem with the Pro-built transmission shifting under WOT at about 4000 rpm. To remedy this, I purchased a Shift Technology Products 700r4 Governor Weight and Spring Kit. Here is the governor out of my pro-built trans that is shifting very early.
I noted two triangle markings that appear on the weights and then the J and diamond that appear on the "cap". For each side 1 and 2 I noted the spring color and weight letter that are currently in the governor. I'll also attach the chart and instructions that came with the weight kit.
“Heavy” weights that came out of the governor.
As you can see in the chart, supposedly the factory trans had a "narrow tab" weight and red and dark blue springs. My kit comes with A-F weights and green, red, orange, black, purple, and light blue springs.
I need the trans shift at ~6300rpm, so weights designated as F were chosen and red and purple springs were used.
I am having a problem with the trans acting like it's slipping under WOT in second. It might be downshifting into first or it might actually be slipping? The trans is full of fluid and the TV cable is in adjustment. Could too light of weights cause this? Thanks!

You are going to have to experement with this because it is going to be trial and error intill you figure out the right combination of springs and weights that will give you the shifts that you want.
For his combo he needs a No Tab gov. No need to mess with that kit untill you loose all the weight's.. Start off with a No tab gov and just use the springs from that kit..
No tab gov. is the better Gov then the vette..
