Well I had a stock 85 700r4 in my car with a b&m shift kit and it lasted 3 years then It started slipping really bad and I eventually lost third. Soo about 3 weeks ago I got a new "tough" 700r4 and a bit higher stall tq intalled. It wasn't a cheap tranny, it cost me 2400$ installed, including the converter. Anyways to the exciting part..... I'm drivin down the main drag cruzin in second, drop a gear and hammer it. cruunch I now have a 4000 stall tq that was originally a 2500. I was like wtf and limped it to the tranny shop that built it, just down the street. I only had first gear and no matter what it wouldn't shift. I got a call this morning and the guy said that converter failed taking out a buncha stuff the pump, some bushings and other great stuff. Anyways it was warrantied and while it was out I paid another 300 bux to upgrade to a 3500 stall. I'm not too sure of the brand name the first one was but I will let you guys know when I pick up my car tomorrow. This actually kinda turned out for the best, I now have a set of street slicks and found out that 2500 rpm is way too low of a stall speed and I was running better 60 foot times with good street tires and some tire spin. I cant wait to see what kind of times I will get with the new converter.
