Is a T700 from a 1989 the same as a 1986

HiGuys
I have been offered a T700 auto trans from a 1989 Camaro that was a Jap' export and want to know if it is the same transmission that was used in a local U.S 1986 Camaro IROC , if not what do I need to do to make it fit and operate , Can you offer any help
Thanks Steve [ From Australia ]

Externally it is the same. There are a few slight internal differences. But it should fit.

Assuming of course that the 89 car is a V8. A 6-cyl trans won't bolt to a V8.

a few slight internal differences
The number of splines on certain parts, stuff like that. Nothing that affects whether it fits or works.

If anything it is a better unit (1989) than the other one (1986)... Both of them use a 30 spline input shaft, but the 1989 has extra goodies like an auxillary valve body, and extra updates to improve lubrication and life-span of the transmission..
