Is a T700 from a 1989 the same as a 1986

I have been offered a T700 auto trans from a 1989 Camaro that was a Jap' export and want to know if it is the same transmission that was used in a local U.S 1986 Camaro IROC , if not what do I need to do to make it fit and operate , Can you offer any help

Externally it is the same. There are a few slight internal differences. But it should fit.
Assuming of course that the 89 car is a V8. A 6-cyl trans won't bolt to a V8.

Thanks very much for your help , I will go ahead and buy it , has only done 37K km about 23K miles, should be like new, i will have it beefed up and then fit it later , it will only be used as a daily drive car what mods can be done to make it better

If anything it is a better unit (1989) than the other one (1986)... Both of them use a 30 spline input shaft, but the 1989 has extra goodies like an auxillary valve body, and extra updates to improve lubrication and life-span of the transmission..
