hey I have a 84 z28 with a 350 crate motor in it all computer controls and smog crap has been taken out behind it i have a 700r4 with some kind of 1500 stall shift kit and a corvette servo so im told i didnt build the car so details are sketchy.

Anyway my gas mileage is **** poor about 15 TOPS if i barely touch the throttle its usally closer to 12mpg. A guy i was talking to said it could be that because i dont have any of the computer stuff in the car my Tranny isnt locking up in overdrive. The way it was explained to me and correct me if im wrong that with my 3.73 gears i hit my last gear around 35 mph or so then when i get up to around 45 the coverter will lock up and my RPMs drop a bit which does not happen for me. At 50 miles per hour im at a little over 2000 revs around 60-65 its over 2500 revs. I was told theres a kit u can buy that fixes this alot of people use them on cars where the computer controls have been removed anyone have this?

Im a moron when it comes to this transmisson i dont know anything about it stupid question but how many times should it shift if you just throw it in normal Drive. Thanks in advance

 

The TCC won't lock up without the computer, or a kit, or some creative wiring, but it sounds like you've got bigger problems if your mileage is that low.
