93 T56 Id

I was looking at the great post on T56 installation started by MrDude_1. There was a picture of a T56 and the pictures identifies a 93 T56 as NOT having a provision for CAGS. Is this correct? Could this be used to identify a 93 T56 from the later years? What other features does a 93 have that the later years don't or vice versa?

93 T56's have different gearing as well. However, I am not sure of the external differences.

Yes, Shifty. I am aware of the gear difference as well as the lower torque rating for the '93. I know the unit I have is from an LT-1 but was hoping for some external que telling me if it was a 93 or not. For the price I got if for ($650) and the near pefect condition it's in(30,000 miles), I shouldn't complain either way....but I will.

If it has it's ID tag you can look it up on tremec's website. It won't tell you what year it is but it will let you know the gear ratios and torque rating.

The tag on my aftermarket T-56 was purple and on one of the tailhousing bolts.

Thanks Flyte. I will look for that tag. Couldn't help but notice the weight of the transmission....115 lbs! Jeez... the days of laying a tranny on your chest and heaving it up into the transmission tunnel are pretty much over!!
