checklist for my swap
alright. i have a 85 z-28 5spd(donor car, wrecked badly). i have an auto 85 z-28. alright no motor or tranny in the auto. taking motor, tranny, pedals, cylinders, radiator out of the donor. ive got a complete step by step write up from http://www.thirdgenresource.com/auto...ual_conversion . but i dont know what to do with the cable that attaches to the steering colum to tell that the car is in park so u can turn the key. i think i have all the neccessary info for the swap.so i just pretty much mount the motor, cut hole for cylinder, cut hole for shifter, splice wires write?

The column is different for a manual. Get the column from your donor car too.
In fact, if you take it out before the pedals, it will make getting the pedals much easier. It might even be impossible to get the pedals out with the column still there.

I left the cable disconnected. The differences between the '82 3-speed auto and '86 4-speed auto were just complicated enough in that area that I decided not to mess with it. It's laying there under the console just going along for the ride.
