ok here is the storey i bought an 86 iroc-z with 61,000 miles on the car it has a LB9 (305) tpi engine with a 700R4 tranny...

ok when i take off first gear slips real bad and if u give it to much gas the rpms go up but you dont realy gain speed it just slips real bad then when it shifts to second the same thing happens but it shakes the whole car a bit... when it shift to drive it is perfect it doesnt slip at all and the same goes for over drive...

today was the first day i drove the car since i bought it so i thought maybe it needes a new tranny filter so i changed it but it did the same thing and i think it made it get worse.....

ive been told maybe its the torque converter... but the way i think if its the torque convertr then why do just first and secon slip real bad... ive also been told it may be the pump but the same goes why would it just slip in first and second if it the pump ud think it would shift in very gear?

any way what other things can i check out before i have to go lookng for a rebuild or a new tranny cause i am just a lol 19 year old and i thought this car was going to get me back and forth to summer school now this has to happen so i dont have much money to play with here... what does a tranny rebuild usualy cost? and can i trust a used tranny if i find one?

also i was told it has a hurst shift kit and i admit i am not one to know what to look for to be able to tell if it realy has one but when i did the filter change it had a stock filter on it so i think he told be the its got a shift kit thing because of how much pull it has when it shift to 3rd at red line if u floor it beacuse it slipping so bad in second that when it actualy hit 3rd gear a gear that doesnt slip it pulls real hard... help me out guys!!!!!

dunno much bout auto trannys but it sounds like your clutch packs are screwed
