Hey guys, I have an 89 formula 305 with a open rear (yea eeewie)

anyway

Few months ago i bought an 88 350 (half of one anyway lol) parts car and now im clearing everything off it and ive found its got a 9 bolt borg warner rear with disc brakes! (which im finishing taking off tomorrow, haynes book actually IS good for something)

anyway

i cant see any of the stamped codes after using a wires brush for a while so i can only hope its a posi

any suggestions on what I should do before i throw it in my working formula? keep in mind i have no idea if theres something wrong with this rear, and ive never messed with rears short of fluid changes, any thing to check on it etc...?

i think all disc brake rears were posi....

 

it should be a cone type posi and the gear ratio will be stamped on the ring gear so youll have to pull the cover to see probably gonna be 2.77 - 3.23 most of them were 2.77 from what ive seen

 

The ratio for a borg warner was 3.27 3.23 is for ten bolts. Mine had a tag on one of the rear end cover bolts that told me gear ration and posi. -John

 

Mine had a tag also that said 3.27 . I would clean it up good sand blast it if you can and change the fluid and get new brakes.
