identifying gear set

identifying gear set

I have a gear set i purchased off of the classified board here, i was just woundering how I can confirm that it is truely a 3.42 set. I have only met good people here so far, but I just want to make sure.

count the teeth on the ring and pinion and divide the pinion into the ring

Axle/Gears: 3.73 posi with spacer
It is usually printed on the ring gear. My 373 gears say GM 41:11

Ratio is always stamped on the OD of the ring gear.
