I am in the market for one and am wondering if anyone has been able to break one. I have a feeling they are way underrated.

Yup. I dropped into third on the highway once and it started to whine after that. It whined in all gears except fourth. When my mechanic dropped it, he said that there was no fluid. I never did find the leak either.

Had to replace third gear syncros and 4th gear cluth cone. easy to do and only cost me about $80.00 for the parts. I do not think it was the trannys fault, but more my fault. Trying to shift to fast at the track. I'm still using the stock 84 hydraulic clutch linkage and I think it is not releasing the clutch quick enough for the fast shifts. Once I had the tranny apart I was very impressed by how well built it is. I do belive they are under rated also.
