Clutch disengagement trouble

I recently purchased a 1983 Z/28, it has the T-5. The previous owner yanked the 305 and installed a 350. I was having trouble with the clutch engaging just as I let it off the floor, So I adjusted it. It got better for a few days and eventually I ran out of adjustment and replaced the clutch. The old disk was still in decent condition and I found the clutch fork spring clip to be cracked. So I replaced it(the clutch fork). I have the new clutch in and am experiencing the same problems.
It looks as though the "swivel" where the clutch rod screws into was fabricated. I am almost out of adjustment on the clutch rod already and only got it together this morning. Was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a new clutch adjustment assembly, this one dont seem right. Local dealerships say its a discontinued item. Anything else I should maybe check? I am certain the clutch was installed correctly. Its driving me nuts. Thanks to all. I know this setup was an 82-83 exclusive because in 84 they went to hydraulic.
