What your thougts on runnings slicks with an automatic and stock rear. Will it hold up? Or does it ultimatly come down to the launch?

depends on how you apply the power and what you do to strengthen the rear

Ill let ya know when my rear blows up. Im running a 10 bolt with 315/35/17 nitto drags. if the drags dont blow it then maybe my new engine combo will. That rear is already on life number 2. After it goes again its history. Ill make a damn mailbox post out of it

I wouldn't trust it if you are running anything more powerfull than a 305. Traction eventually kills these things. As ede said it depends how you apply the power. Shock kills where as soft/rolling starts don't. You can build a 10 bolt to handle about 450ft lbs with the right parts.

Actually I just discovered my rear is a 9-bolt- not a 10. Yea I shouldve looked before but is this weaker or stronger than the 10?

That's a loaded question in this message board. You'll have zealots on both side of the fence.

If you have an auto, the 10 bolt should hold up to a lot of abuse. I've got a heads/cammed LS1 with the stock 10 bolt and I run 10 inch wide hoosers out back and it hasn't blown yet.

I would say with moderate power and auto it would be fine. An auto is ALOT easier on the rearend than a standard at least.

BTW..I really like my Nittos Drags...
