URGENT rearend help plz...

okay i am swapping my 4th gen 3.42 posi disc rear in right now...i did a search and i cant really understand and its 10:00 at nite and i was wondering if anyone could give me some quik help on the brake cables. Everyone always told me it was a direct swap except the e-brake cable, well right now i am stuck. There are 2 cables that come from each of the brakes and on the old rear the actual plug in is longer than on the new...is this a problem, i was going to just switch out the 2 cables but they also go into the brakes differently...help plz??? im sorry i didnt spend a tooo long time searching but i did for about 25 minutes and some said it would work and some said different rears had different cables..what should i do

I'm assuming you have a 93-97 rear. if you don't, then I'll have to do some looking for the answers. on the 93-97 rears, go to the parts store and buy cable from a 91 trans am /camaro. either one. what you need is a cable with the same ends as the PBR calipers. you have drums, right? those cables won't work at all. throw 'em out. the cab;es for the iron caliper disc brakes from 82-89ish won't work either, i dont think, but i've never seen the ends, so i dunno. if you have an LS1 rear, then I'm unsure what to tell you.

I rememeber reading that you MUST use the first design E brake cables from a 92 camaro z28 w/ disc brakes. That is what I used and it works PERFECT. IIRC, I had a little trouble getting them to work with the factory mounted brackets under the car but I did get them in there, Just make sure when there in that they will not get pinched or bind up when you apply the E brake

exactly. I used 91 trans am... call me brand loyal. again, this is only if you have 93-97 PBR calipers on your 4th gen rear. if you're using the Ls1 rear, it may not work with those cables we told you.
