Rebuild 700R4 in L98 IROC or swap to 5spd?
My friend needs to get his tranny rebuilt which I have asked about in another thread. Would he be better off to go 5spd? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

a rebuilt 700 with minor mods will be better than any t-5 anyday, my friend and i have gone through 3 of them(t-5), the 700 is stronger and had a better 1st gear
Well if he's installing the tranny himself, setting the line pressure on the 700R4 might be tricky. But for installing the T5 he wont have to worry about that. Instead he has to worry about aligning the clutch (which isnt that bad). The T5 is an alright transmission but has a reputation for breaking. I recommend responsible driving, a good clutch, and a good shifter and it should be OK. When faced with the same situation (700R4 in IROC broke) I went the TH350 route.
