700R4 would not shift past 2nd

Engine: 305 (LG4)
Transmission: THM700R4
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, 3.23 non-LS
700R4 would not shift past 2nd
A few years ago my 700R4, with 85,000 miles, would not shift past 2nd. I had it rebuilt. Would synthetic ATF help this not to happen again, or is this just a normal failure of 700R4s?

A good synthetic ATF will reduce wear, reduce tranny temp, and be more resistant to heat breakdown. Otherwise, it won't help.
