trans swap problem
trans swap problem
I recently swapped my r4 for a t5. my r4 has a mechanical speedo, and my t5 has an electronic. this is a problem since my speedo now can't function. does anybody know if all t5 transmissions are elect. speedo? if they are not, would you have any idea where to find a mechanical drive?

Email me your tyre size, differential rear gear ratio, the colour of the gear inside the transmission, and I'll get ya hooked up with the right parts.

Yes the T-5 came with a cable seepdo as well as electric. They interchange directly.
All you need is the speedo gear sleeve, and the right speedo gears for your rear end and tire size.
Here's a T-5 VSS and cable sleeve side by side, just to show you how trivial the swap is. One bolt.

Here's a T-5 speedo gear, and a new replacement sleeve from the dealer. This sleeve is steel, compared to the chinesium OE one. Much better quality than the OE sleeve in the first pic. The gear just slides into the sleeve.
As you can see, this is like a 2 minute job, if the car is already jacked up.
