Stumped??
OK, I have no idea of the history behind my car and I thought it was all stock. Today I thought I'd shift from a stop from 1 to 2 to 3 to D to OD. Well shifted into 1, took off and at about 3000 rpm's it shifted by itself into 2nd gear, so i shifted into 2nd and it stayed in second untill it shifted into 3rd.
So I stopped the car and I'm like "wtf" because from all my past experience with trannies when you shift into 1 it stays in 1 untill you manually shift it into 2 or up to any higher gear.
So upon closer inspection, my console has P, R, N, OD, D, 2, 1 but when I start at park and count the shifts down it only goes to 2, no 1.
So couple questions, 1. Different tranny than a 700R4? 2. Is it a busted 700R4? 3. Should it shift into second when its dropped all the way down into 1 or is it shifting into 2 because its actually in 2 and busted and wont go into 1?
When it's in OD or D it shifts great.

its not really loose, but just offset by a hair so that it wont slide all the way down in first.
if you put it in nuetral and go under your car, there is a single nut on your linkage right on the side of your tranny. loosen it a little . you might have to play with it a tad to get it just right. if you feel that your shifter moves to a different gear that what the tranny is in, just see if the car starts then you know it is in nuetral.
