Which ATF fluid? Dexron II or III for Th-700-R4?
Which ATF fluid? Dexron II or III for Th-700-R4?
Guys,
Should I use Dexron 2 or Dexron 3 automatic transmission fluid. The Haynes manual says Dexron 2 ATF. The car is a 1898 GTA with Th-700-R4 auto trans.
A search for posts with Dexron in the title yeilded these results:-
HELP!!!!I did a no-no atleast i think i did with my trans..Put Dexron V and not III

From them. it seems that it should make little or no difference. Anyone agree/diasagree?

Yup, the II has been supplanted by the III. Anything the II will do, the III will do the same or better.
Kind of like your motor oil.... your oil cap might say something like "use SG only", but you go to the store and all they have is SH.... the new standard.... do you just not change your oil? I don't think so.
