2: whats the best manual for this trans?

Your 89 should be a Worls Class T-5 which uses Automatic Trans Fluid. The best manual is the GM service manual. Try this site http://www.helminc.com/helm/welcome_...P5S9G2SBAN71NE They are expensive manuals around 100 bucks, you could look on E-Bay for it also. Stay away from Chiltons type manuals. They are useless.

I would have liked to have had more input on what brand of fluid but I guess as long as its Automatic transmission fluid it doesn't matter.

The WC T5 uses ATF. I used a mix of Royal Purple Synchromax and Mobil1 Synthetic ATF in my T5.

Synchromax is a full synthetic gear lube made specially for manual trannys that call for ATF.

We all know that synthetics are better and outlast dino oils.

JMB Thanks for the website, a free download is much better than a $150 + paper manual.

Tremo, Thanks for your input one which brand you use, Thats what I'm gonna put back in it.
