TV cable does this look right?

Does anyone know if this looks right? I am not really sure but I would think that the grooves on the TV cable should be in the housing more as that is what should hold the cable in place when you adjust it? No matter what I do the grooves on the cable never make it into the housing.

I am just trying to figure out if maybe I have wrong cable length.

Nice picture, but of the wrong part of the cable.
Check out www.tvmadeez.com's TV System 101.

I specifically took that picture as it is picturing the grooves on the cable. Now are they these for pretty looks or do they serve a purpose? Cause as it is now they are not doing anything or have no function what so ever.

Thanks, that is the best link I have seen regarding the 700r4 adjustments, I am heading to garage right now to check this stuff. Thanks.

Did you go to this link and read it? Must not have because you would have answered your own question as to why you see all the notches. The outer cable with the notches need to be inside the "D"adjusting bracket.

I did visit the link but I was also unsure if there are notches further up the cable.

So if the notches on the cable need to be inside the D adjusting bracket I need to make the cable longer something is messed up I guess.

Thanks for your help.

Try pushing the cable back into the bracket by pushing it forward up into the rear of the bracket. I can't believe you can't get that cable back inside, while pushing it in, press the "D" HARD.

Good deal, I have been checking my TV adjustment as well, PITA. I have been surfing all day yesterday looking for an article that would help me understand how to check trans pressures with a PSI gauge. Found one, looks pretty informitive. You should check your pressure levels as well as adjusting the TV cable per this article, check the pressure at the test port on the driver's side of transmission. Here is the link to get the procedure:

Should help, I need to come up with a gauge to measure pressures that high, hope to find one today and test, will update you

Okay I pushed the cable back into the housing. But when I adjust the TV cable and you are supposed to press D and pull cable back to firewall I just pull it out again, leaving me where I started.

I think it has to be made shorter to fix the problem so the travel is not as great?

What do you think?

Push the cable into and thru the d bracket, so you can see the end of it looking into the front of the D bracket. With this adjustment completed, my cable ends up flush with the front of the D bracket. So, if you make it flush with the front, go to WOT, it will normally ratchet back forward a little, tries to come back out the front of the D bracket.

OKay I did notice that when I pushed the cable as far as it would go forward into the D bracket it poked out about 2" at the front of it.

I'll try and push it flush and then go to WOT and see what the shifts feel like and take it from there.

Sounds like you are getting close. If you don't do the pressure check be careful while test driving as to not cause damage if the TV cable is not right. You should be close with that setup without pressure testing.
