hey guys i have a world class t-5 that i'm finishing rebuilding, i installed the 3-4 hub and was wondering if anyone who has done this can tell me how much play there should be between the 3rd gear and the hub?

thanks rb, i have about .020" it seemed kind of a lot, it's about the same as the play in the 2nd gear, so i guess it's okay

ok so something isnt right with my shaft, when i have it installed with the correct end play when i engage the 3/4 hub to 4th gear the slider is rubbing on the counter gear and hard to get back to neutral
update: i was manually putting it in 3rd and 4th gear with the top cover off, can you over shift it with the cover off, is that why? i put the forks on and when i shift it, it feels fine, can anyone confirm this, i dont want to finish it up if something is not correct

i assume you used new blocking rings...
the blocker rings help slow down the next gear so to speck and they normally dont wear out...atleast in the friction dept....however they WILL STRETCH...with the top cover off look at the input gear...itll probly be easier with the input out, but put the blocker ring on the input were it goes...if it touches the gear itself then the ring is garbage...
i had that problem when rebuilt mine a while back.....excpet it was on the 3rg gear side....every time i put it in 3rd gear the slider would go to far and cause the keys to pop out of the indents in the slider itself....it would have to be taken apart to get the slider back over the keys like they belong....

well i rebuilt the entire thing with a master rebuild kit, i set the output shaft in and got the correct end play with just the tailhousing on minus the top cover, so i figured i would check to see how it goes in the gears, 1st 2nd is fine, but when i moved the 3/4 slider to 4th and turned the input the slider itself is rubbing on the countershaft, and then it was hard to move back to neutral cause the keys popped up a bit, but if i put the top cover on and shift it by the shift rail it seems fine, doesnt get stuck in gear and there is no rubbing sound while i turn it, that is my question, i was wondering if thats normal that the shift fork keeps it from going too far?

well if it shifts fine with the cover on it as it should be thne id be willing to say its ok...there are shifters that have stops to prevent overshifting so id suspect that with out the shift forks over the sliders to prevent them for going to far they will..
