It seems like if i drive it for about 1/2 mile or less somtimes up to a mile it will work fine trough out the day untill it sits over night then same problem. my second question is the trans is leaking but i don't see any puddles and there isn't any oil coming out any where. the trans is as clean as it was when i put it in. any help. thanks

tail housing seal maybe? lok for leaking in that area, see if theres excessive wobble where the driveshaft mates up to the tranny.

ok the deal with the 83 z is a buddy of mine as a 77 chevy with no title and my 83 z is fubared. the only good thing left on it is the seats and the dash so i just thought that id be different. that and there is a mavrick that is a 4x4 where i live that thinks that he is the sh*t. it is better to have a chevy that is ls 4x4 than a ford. enough with this becasue this isn't the right board to be talking about this. any way. the rear seal isn't leaking and the seal is new. i put a new one in before i put the trans in. there is no play in the driveshaft eaither.

yeah i know it is going somewhere. and i also know that it does evaporate! i found that the boot on the lower part of the shifter has a little bit of oil on it but it isn't about 3 quarts of it. it is maybe a teaspoon amount of it. the only thing i havint checked is the front of the trans but i don't think that it would be coming from there because i would see it and the trans is still clean. i know it sounds like i don't know what i am talking about but i know it is going somewhere but where i don't know.
