Signs of a broken torque arm mount??

I just swapped my rear end a month ago and when we were doing it the mechanic that helped me let the torque arm hang from the mount after we took it off the rearend. Im pretty sure its still got the original gm mount on it with 260k kms on it.

Lately when ive been accelerating hard, i get a loud thunk when the car goes into 2nd gear. It feels like something might be hitting the floor board but it only does it once in a while.

Im guessing that the mount is broken??? Any ideas??

By the way getting my car on my ramps is like a 2 person job because the thing is low and pushes the ramps forward. The jack isnt really much easier because it doesnt go up all that high.

I'd be willing to bet it's the famous transmission mount gone bad yet again. Get an Energy Suspension mount and you shouldn't have to worry about it for quite some time.

So you think it might be the tranny mount and not the torque arm?? They are both like 15 and 20 bucks from spohn so I might just replace them both.

How can you tell by looking at the mount though if its junk?

Sometimes a flashlight is all it takes. If a mount is visibly torn, it's no good. If you can use a prybar against the crossmember to lift the trans, the tranny mount is no good.
