Cheap tricks to reduce slippage between shifts?
With my mods, and my tune getting closer to where it should be, my transmission is starting to cry in agony. For the 1-2 shift, it will slip for a sec and then slowly downshift. The 2-3 shift is much worse. It will go to shift at about 5500, then quickly slip up to 6000 (where rev limiter is set). If I keep leaning into it, it will slip for 3 seconds or so until I let off to allow shift. Only did that once for diagnostic purposes... I don't know about the 3-4 shift, I've never gone WOT into 4th.
I only need the trans to last for another 9 months or so until I get some $$$ flowing in. Here's the plan thus far:
1. Install solid spacers in place of accumulator springs. I know this will be tougher on the hard parts, but will it prolong the life of the band and friction/steel materials?
2. Vette servo to increase line pressure
3. Drill the apply holes larger. Need to do some research on this for proper sizes and such.
4. stiffer springs for the shift valves.
Any opinions on this stuff? Especially the 1st one? Think it will get me the 9 mo-1 year I need?
EDIT: TV cable is set to where it needs to be. Part throttle shifts are perfect. Shifter cable is adjusted perfectly as well.
