Does this look like the proper gear selection?

I am going to put in some 3.42's and ditch the 2.73's finally. Does this sound like what I need? It is from Sumitt Racing's web page.

I would wait and get a posi before you get a 2 series gear. You should be able to snag a 4th gen posi for next to nothing and then go with a 3 series gear. I am not aware of any 2 series posi's for the 10 bolt other than the super rare ones found in some 3.08 T5 cars. I could be wrong on that though. Although I have never owned a set of richmonds, I hear they whine. For that reason I went with GM gears.

What about Strange gears. They make some 3.42's that should fit my car. Anybody heard of them?

Stange, moser, richmond and a few others make gears for the 10 bolt. If you are buying new I would consider GM motive gears. They are quiet and fairly priced. I almost went with a set myself but got a deal on a used set out of a 97 LT1 car.

I had a posi in my 89 305 2.73 car.

I got used GM gears, and they still whine a little. I have setup several different sets for people and by far the quietest is the Motive IMO.
