this is on my 87' S10 but hopefully someone can help, over a some time the shift linkage has been getting messed up as in i have to slam the shift arm on the colum into park to have it stay and most of the time it pops out, but recently it wont go into park at all, as in when the gear selector is just below park its in reverse, if its in reverse on the selector its actually in neutral, etc,......i went under the car and everything seems to be ok, anyone know what the problem is?

 

This is a very common problem in the late 80 s10's as i know. I do not know how to fix it but i had to get a ****ty new steering column because my tilt steering broke. After that it was fine.
