Transimission Rebuild, what to look for
I will spare eveyone with my transmission problems. But the fact of the matter is I need mine rebuilt. I am going to go to a very relaiable trans shop, and I was wondering what things should I request or look for in this rebuild. My engine was a LB9 swaped to a L98 that is stock, but I want something that will last and will be able to handle more mods with ease. I know about getting things like a Vette servo, Trans Go shift kit and a .500 boost valve ( even though I dont know what the boost valve really does, I just know its a common mod). Any Imput would be great.

Depending on how much horsepower you have will determine if you need the Beast (550 & up) & instead of the GM sunshell. The rear planet & reverse input deum are options if yours is bad.

If the 2-4 band is burnt, then most likely you will need a drum. If the drum surface is not flat where the band rides, then you will need a drum. If the rear planet has to much play in the pinions, and/or they are burnt, it will need to be replaced. If they are burnt, then you will need to replace the matching ring gear.

Hey Pro Built. I tried to PM you a few times but you inbox was full so I will ask you here. I am gonna get my tranny built from a place in Mondelein, IL called Jimmy's Transmissions. I heard from a reliable source that you know him. I was just wondering if this was true.

Dont question me Kevin :-) I told u so.
Pro-Built is a A1 guy and super knowledgeable, i talked with him about my 700 for my Formula when we started talking about hard parts and development is when I found out he knew Jimmy.
I dont think I would have any issues with either individual. Both back their work and have many cars out there to prove it.
Only reason I went with Jimmy's is , he is closer than PB to me and I get a little slack cut cause I'm running two of his now :-)
One 200 and one 700

I called Jimmy yesterday. I just need to give him a credit card # so he can order the converter, then it will be going to his shop in the next few days.
Also Pro Built,
Thank you very much for helping me out with this!! Also Jimmy said you have his number. LOL
