Gap between cover and trans case

Didn't get any answers to my other thread but this is my greatest concern:

This gap here, it didn't exist on my trans that I noticed. Shop says its alright (but of course they will on their work), but I wanted a second opinion.

TIA.

If you are talking about that black plastic cover that is nothing to worry about if there is a gap in it. All it does is help stop rock and dirt from getting stuck in the flex plate or starter gear.

Thanks. yes, that's it,I guess the pic was clear enough now that I look at it you can't tell its plastic.

I figured it was something like that, but didn't know if it was "nothing to worry about." Seeing metal behind it, I naturally worried.
