what trans?

which manual trans is in the 4th gen 6cyl f-bodies? i want to swap a l67 engine from a gtp into a camaro. im tired of fwd and automatic. the l67 is alot of tourqe and when im done building it its going to be real bad. i need the trans to hold up but i cant afford a heavyduty t56. 5 or 6 speed doesnt bother me.

also whats a good rear axel ratio? i want to swap in a disc rear with limited slip.
thanks

I don't believe that the FWD bellhousing pattern of the L67 block will mate up to the RWD 3800 trans, which happens to be a T5.

There's a fellow on LS2.com with a turbocharged 3800 98 Camaro putting down around 350hp. If you're gonna do a V6, you might as well do a 4th gen. swap. But with all the work it's going to take, you might as well do a V8 4th gen powertrain swap.

i emailed a guy who has a turbo6 4th gen. from what i gather i may need to use a l36 camaro block built to l67 specs. basically its just swapping the internals. everyone does v8 swaps. i can make the same power from the l67. like i said in another post my gtp is in the mid 12's on mild mods. im gonna build the engine badder then what i got should be looking at 10's or better. hopefully.

If you're talking supercharged to naturally aspirated, sure. I'd still rather have the NA Gen III over a supercharged L67 though.

There's a lot of technology in the Gen III (LS1) engines which is hard to beat.

My point is this: To swap TBI into a SBC car takes just as much time and effort as swapping TPI into a SBC car, so it really doesn't make sense to do the TBI since it's no less work.

Same here. All the parts to do a Gen III LS1 are out there, and it's no harder to do than the V6 swap. Dare to be different is great, but don't work harder to get the same results while spending the same or more.

yea, but i can get my hands on an l67, and turning big numbers for under $3000. i wokr on these motors for grand prixs and i have good knowledge on what to do and i have good rep with the parts machiners/fabricators. as far as i can tell the most involved work will be the wiring harness. i want a stick and i dont know a whole lot about them except driving them. not saying the ls1 isnt cool but im passed the v8 bug. i want something different
