on my setup, I didn't use the top bolt, but I did use the gas pedal. The entire 4th gen assembly went into the car with no problems.

Hey porkyzilla I ran into the same problem this weekend when trying to install the 4th gen pedals. i was not able to get the hole to line up so i modified the small bracket to make it fit and it worked like a charm!

He redrilled the hole on the pedal assembly bracket to match up with where the bolt went into the car.
basically what i did. just have to get under there with a flash light and play with it to get it to work right. i did this last night. and all is good. wasn't the funniest thing in the world but it worked out.
And as far as leaving the top bolt out. With everything bolted up, ( without that top bolt ) have some one step on the brake pedal while you have your head under there ( not under the brake pedal
) and decide for yourself. you'll see what im talking about.
