what do you mean a " good set up" how about a posi carrier? i think that might be a good way to have a good set up for a posi rear.

Okay perhaps I should have mentioned that I have no idea where to start. I'm still learning here.

Axle/Gears: 2.73, 3.42's waiting to go in!
From what I've read on these boards, going to a junkyard and finding a Trans Am GTA/IROC/Z28 rear end is the thing to do, posi, plus rear disc brakes. Not sure what the gears are though, 3.73 anyone? I'd like to do the same thing. Search online for specs, gear ratios, there are charts that tell you which cars have the posi and rear gears you want. I think you want 3.73 gears for best performance.

While you are at it, throw in the aluminum driveshaft, they are lighter and better balanced. Might even be one in your rear end donor car.

Go with a set of 3.73's if you plan on staying NA and a good posi like the eaton unit.

Thanks guys. I thought it was 3.73 but just wanted to confirm it before I wasted my money. And I was planning on putting in an aluminum driveshaft too.
