transmission engine pull down

Hi I have 1985 Camaro 305 and 700r4 . I have changed out the cam ,intake, timing chain ,carb to Edelbrock units, also the distributor to a Mallory 9000 comp and the exhaust to Hooker shorty comp headers. The problem I am having is when i put it in gear it drags the engine down from 1500 rpm to less than 500 rpm causing the engine to stall . all electrics on the transmission hane been disconected. Anyone have any idea what might cause this.

Thanks for any help

I don't think that the problem is trans related. Sounds more like a vacuum leak. Double check all your vaccum connections, and make sure that everything is hooked up. It's easy to forget things after an intake swap, or forget to cap things that you aren't using anymore like emissions stuff.

BTW, the electrical connection on the trans is for the converter lockup. If the trans isn't set up with a non-locup converter and non-lockup valve for the pump this can cause damage to the trans.
