What are my options for transmissions?
What are my options for transmissions?
Aftermarket and rebuilt T-56s are costly, and I dont want an auto. Is there any recourse?
EDIT: I am swapping in a carbed 350, and am considering transmission options, thus keeping this thread engine swap related. And yes, I did search.

Still more "Transmission oriented" than "Engine Swap oriented".

I plan to get a rebuild kit for a WC when the time comes.
my non WC granny shifted I doubt will last me longer then a year.

Vern is the example here--when I have his kind of power I'm gonna get my WC T5 rebuilt and upgraded to 450 hp/ft. lbs by TKOPerformance for $700 (his quote) plus shipping. I'll never run more hp than that (I think) and it saves a ton of money and hassle.

Why not a 4-speed? They are no harder than installing a TH350, and some of them are pretty tough (much tougher than a T5 anyway). I'm thinking Super T10 here, like what came in the '77-81 Z28 Camaros.

I like the G-force rebuild kit with dog rings. Its nothing like being able to bang gears like the big boys at 7000rpm. http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/techdata.asp has a very good article and a good reputation. Worth the money to me to get all your power to the ground. Do the research!
