TCI servo vs Corvette Servo?

The TCI servo claims a surface area up to 63% greater than stock providing an additional 300 lbs of 2nd gear band apply force. The TH-700R4 servo kit also eliminates the common 2nd to 3rd flare problem. Is this the same as the corvette servo? What is the difference between the two? I have the flare up issue while full throttle the 2-3 shift sucks, have to let off the gas a bit for it to shift. Also, at highway speeds, it seems when i get on it really hard and it downshifts to 3rd, it seems like its slipping, because the motor keeps pulling, and the car just doesnt accel like it should. Would a bigger boost valve or maybe shift kit from BM work- I cant afford the 130 for the transgo one right now. But i can do the 30 dollar bm shift improver kit. The tranny works great other than those issues. Im also going to change the TV plunger to avoid the 4-3 downshift at part throttle, and was going to do the b4c upgrade to give me 3-4 shifts at full throttle. I bought the tranny used with convertor, I dont know the stall speed but was told a little higher than stock. My car is an L69, Edel Intake, Demon Carb & spacer, Hooker shorties and catback - no cat, and 3.73 gears - if any of this helps. Thanks.

Make sure you replace the TV spring behind the plunger that rides in the sleeve you're going to replace.. When they get old, they aren't as long as they need to be, not allowing you to get as much pressure.

You have any ideas between the differences of the servos?

I've got the Corvette servo in my truck now. Pro-Built uses them with all their kits, and they rate their transmissions upwards of 500HP, so I think the Vette one is good enough for almost everyone. Dana has certainly forgotten more about 700R4s than I will ever know, so I've got to say that his decision to use the Vette servo over another product comes from years of testing and experience.

After having experience with both the B&M kit and the Transgo kit in the same vehicle I have to say that the Transgo kit is much better. You really do get what you pay for with these kits. My B&M kit was very hard shifting, even under part throttle, and it was fun to drive, but I always figured that I had just made a sacrifice in shift quality at part throttle for the added performance of hard, fast full throttle shifts.

The transmission now, with the Transgo kit, is a totally different animal. I actually think that my part throttle shifts are smoother than they were stock. The full throttle shifts are just as hard and fast as the B&M kit ever was. It's like the trans has a split personality.

I'd advise you to spend the extra money on the Transgo kit. Save up for a while if need be. You'll be happier in the long run, unless the car is a dedicated race car that never sees street use. In which case the B&M kit will get the same effect for less money and less work, since the car only ever shifts at full throttle.
