Stock Trans
how much power can stock transmissions in 3rd gens hold..I know the T5 can only hold like 300 hp, but how much can the 700r4 hold stock, and how much can it hold with a shiftkit...thanx...

I have heard from racing buddies that the 700-r4 can only handle 350 hp and 350 ft lbs at the flywheel until they go boom. Many upgrades are available at a premium price. Have you considered converting to a th-350?

yes i have considered it...how are those on the highway, i've heard doing 75, your at almost 4,000 rpms...thats why i would much rather have a built 700r4...unless the th350's are better than that on gas...

You are right about the extra rpms. I have read about other members here running a conventional trans like the 350 with an aftermarket bolt on overdrive unit. The name escapes me but others will likely chime in.
