why is my posi different
hey guys well i started rebuilding the used posi i got and i ecountered something wierd got it all apart and noticed that the case was two pieces, like there was a seam right down the middle and i had to take it apart to get the cones/sidegear assembly out? is that normal all the pics i see on here the outside of the carier is smooth and looks to be one piece. it was in good shape i was able to clean and resurface with 300 grit emry cloth all the slutch surface on the cones and case. so what kind of posi is this??? it had 3.23's on it so its a 3 series right??

but the gov-lock has those wierd weight things that are visable through the inspection slot mine has the two paltes with the 5 spring s between them just like other auburn types ive seen it is just the case that is different. i just want to make sure before i invest any more time in it, the rearend that it came out of is definetly a camaro rear 26 spline drum brakes (87 i think it was).
are there more than one version of auburn type limited slips??
