How much torque can a stock 10-bolt rear handle?

Exaclty as the title says. I know it's a redundant post, but I can't search for 10 bolt, since its only 2 characters. I've got a stock rear out of a 94 Z28, and I'm plannin g on putting a carb'd 95 Camaro LT1 in front of it. Roughly how much torque can it handle? I was planning on lightly modding the engine, like a better cam and working the heads over a bit, and headers. Also, what can be done to cheaply strengthen it? Thanks folks!

Heh, totally slipped my mind that there would be a tech article on this. Thanks for actually pointing me towards something useful, even though it was right in my face, that post was just what I needed. However, I didn't see what the stock axle can handle on there, and that was more of my main question. But thanks again!

ZEBRA U DONT KNOW JACK! I KNOW A GUY WHO HAD ONE THAT LASTED AT LEAST 300 RUNS AND HE WAS PUTTING 500TQ DOWN AT LEAST! I WISH YOU WOULD DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE U RUN YOUR MOUTH OFF AND SPREAD MISINFORMATION! ALL U HAD TO DO WAS A SEARCH ON ANOTHER BOARD AND U WOULD CLEARLY SEE THAT MY FRIEND'S COUSIN'S UNCLE'S BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER-IN-LAW'S DENTIST WHO LIVES IN ARKANSAS...

Seriously though, there are some pretty fast 4th gens who run a stock 10-bolt for a while. Before I did my first mod, I was at 336rwtq... I'd start to get nervous around 400rwtq.

You guys are all nuts...

I had a 10 bolt in the back of my diesel truck...Im putting out well over 680ft lbs of torque..

It handled it just fine....When I got home with it yesterday I opened up the tailgate and it looked exactly the same as it did the day I set it in the bed...

Lol.

I ran 7.8's in the 1/8 with a 7.5 10 bolt all last year, given that was on radial tires with no SFC's, LCA's or anything in a t top car with a 1.84 60 ft. The car would hook harder but the stock suspension wouldn't take it.

I welded the axle tubes, and put a rear end girdle on it, how much help those things did, who really knows.

I have read about stock 4th gen guys with drag radials blowing the rears out. Typically an auto car will last longer than a 6speed car, but there is always that exception. I launch my car off idle with a 2800 ACT 9.5 convertor and leave harder than some 5-6 speed cars at 5000.

After some tuning and minor mods, 3 inch exhaust, I think I can hit the 7.6 mark on radials.

I think I will be fine untill I put the ET streets on it, but who knows. maybe it will hold together, I hope. The car has never just dead hooked.
