Visual Differences-->26 vs 28 spline Posi

Just like the title implies visual differences between
1) A posi for the older type 26 spline 10 bolts
2) A posi for the newer type 28 spline 10 bolts

Man , I bought both of them ....I still can;t tell the differnce . The reason I have two is ...... I miscounted the splines ...so be carefull ....or when you go to slide that axle in DOAH !

No visual difference on the Limiited Slip unit except to count the splines. Or know that it was made after 1989 for 28 splines.

easiest way to tell is to try an axle with known spline count in the carrier. guess if you have a groove loc carrier it'd be safe to say it's 26 spline.

Well, i know i have a 28 spline axle.
The reason I asked is because i bought an eaton posi for a 28 spline axle, but i want to double check what they sent me was the right part.

Damn, why didnt I think of that...
Oh wait a second, thats the first thing i did, nevermind.

Well, for those of you that care, upon further inspection, i saw the part number etched on the side, and did match the one I ordered (for 28 spline axles).

But i would still be interested in what the difference would be just in case someone else had the same question.
