4th gear problems on a T-5

so I was racing pasky the other night, guess I got excited and slammed it into 4th a little harder than I thought. When I tried to shift into 5th, the shifter was totally stuck in 4th gear, if I tried pushing it out, I could feel the blocker ring hitting the gear just before it would start grinding. pushing the clutch in did nothing. I pulled over and shut the car off holding the clutch in. Once the engine quit, I again tried pushing it out of 4th gear but it still wouldn't budge. After finally letting the car sit for about a minute, it popped right out. Now, it will usually drop right into 4th gear, but its a gamble rather it will come back out or not, seems about 50/50 as to whether it stays in 4th or comes out easily. When it is stuck in 4th, the only way to get it out is pull over, shut the engine off, and it slips right out. Thoughts/suggestions? Guess its time for the T-56

as I recall, you had some of your own problems didn't/don't you?

anyway, no one has any suggestions? If it weren't for the fact I'm back at school now, I would have just pulled it apart and found out myself, but thats out of the question until this summer when I get home and will have the time.

Honestly when I saw the subject and the poster of same, I said "T56 time"

But rebuilding the T5 that's in there until summer wouldn't be a horrible idea either.

I've wanted to do a T-56 swap since I put the engine in, just hasn't been feasible. I'm already planning on doing it over next Christmas break though, as I won't be driving the car much between now and then, I'm just going to patch the T-5 until then to keep the gears turning.
