Manual To Auto Swap
SHORT & SWEET: what is involved with putting a 700R4 in a '90 RS that has a 305 and used to have a T-5? Thanks for ANY info!

You'll need the mount to hold the auto shifter to the floor. Go to a junk yard and drill the spot welds. You'll have to weld in a piece to seal the hole in the tunnel floor then weld the mounting bracket in. You'll need a tranny, flexplate, converter, shifter, TV cable and bracket, PROM from and auto car, and you'll need to figure out how to wire up the converter lock up. Don't know if or how you'll be able to splice into your factory harness, but you may need to swap the entire engine harness to an auto. Not sure on that.

i did that swap last year it wasnt too bad. the worst part was doing it on a gravel driveway. i dont have a computer so dont know about that part. you can get a lockup switch that goes under your brake pedal. thats what i have and it was very simple to install. i got the level 2 from bowtie overdrives and every nut bolt screw, cooling line etc. and it was about $1800.
